what (else) changes hands at a marketplace? a pop-up market brought together between the organisers and members of three rural cooperatives in inner mongolia, sichuan, and hainan, and shanghai-based chefs, artists, home cooks, organisations and vendors – for the exchange of produce, food, drink, money, time, labour, stories, attention, wechat contacts and other things that felt valuable. hosted at ANKEN australia house throughout september 6 and 7, 2025 as a part of the inaugural common ground 乡遇 gathering in shanghai.
